Senior Interior Designer

Rebel House LLC is looking for a Senior to Intermediate Architectural + FF&E Designer with high-end residential experience (hospitality experience is a bonus) to work in tandem with the Senior Design Team to run and manage client projects. The role will be based from the firm’s North Shore office.

Job Description

  • Conduct site measures, documenting existing spaces for renovation and furnishing.

  • Attend and at times run client meetings to kick off projects, documenting client needs for future use, and present design.

  • Set up project files - including CAD, Budget Sheets, and Presentation Files.

  • Space plan projects based on project and client goals with an understanding of what luxury residential and hospitality projects require and typical spacing requirements.

  • Fill out initial budget sheets with allowances based on knowledge of high-end residential marketplace.

  • Pull imagery to create moodboards which reflect the spaceplan, budget, and established design intent with Creative Director/Design Director direction.

  • For new construction projects, consult on architect floor plans to improve plans for eventual space planning needs.

  • Create CAD elevations and render elevations in Photoshop to illustrate design intent for custom built-ins, kitchen and bathroom millwork, custom furniture, murals and other design elements.

  • Source furniture, fabrics, fixtures, tile, stone, hardware, floor covering, wall covering, accessories and art from retailers, to-the-trade vendors, and boutique makers in accordance with established design intent and budget.

  • Design custom furniture and be able to draw furniture in plan and elevation views.

  • Design custom soft furnishings and window treatments.. Source appropriate fabrics, trims, hardware, and other necessary details to complete custom designs.

  • Correspond with vendors, fabricators, tradespeople, contractors, and reps to obtain necessary pricing, performance, and lead time information to execute designs.

  • Record client feedback at design presentations and create action items to execute design decisions.

  • Create construction document sets and schedules to convey intent to consultants, producing proposals for clients to advance furniture and fixture selections, update design documentation to send to fabricators to finalize bids/quotes.

  • Respond to contractor RFIs, review and approve fabricator shop drawings and samples, and other DFAs and/or CFAs..

  • Visit project sites for weekly meetings or progress check-ins. Inspect work with regards to fidelity to design intent. Communicate effectively with contractors and tradespeople to call out any discrepancies.

  • Organize and, if necessary, attend site measures and installations of millwork and other custom design elements including metalwork, decorative painting/wallpaper, drapery, etc.

  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation to reflect any client changes in process. Disseminate updates and changes appropriately to project team.

  • Delegate elements of above tasks to junior staff appropriately. Organize information, including design intent, in accordance with firm’s processes to drive most efficient collaboration and documentation.

  • Maintain a service-first approach to client needs throughout process.

  • Organize and execute final project installation and style furniture/accessories for turnkey client experience.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in high-end design

  • Interior Design, Interior Architecture, and/or Architecture education

  • AutoCAD, Photoshop, Keynote skills are **essential**

  • Ability to develop concepts from origination to completion on multiple projects

  • Strong team building skills and ability to multi-task

  • FF&E focused - good knowledge of vendors, product, materials, shopping and resourcing

  • Experience in project budgeting and scheduling

  • Access to reliable transportation to travel to job sites in the Chicago-land Area.

  • Willing to travel domestically to job sites, when necessary.

  • Established vendor base, refined client contact and presentation skills

  • Understanding of custom furniture design and fabrication process

  • Knowledge of Studio Webware a plus

Junior Interior Designer

Rebel House LLC is looking for a junior interior designer with high-end residential experience to assist Principal and Senior Designers in all aspects of hospitality and residential design projects. The position will be based from the firm’s North Shore office.

Job Description/Tasks:

  • Drafting floor plans, elevations, and custom furniture drawings in CAD.

  • Requesting pricing and writing proposals for selected items in StudioDesigner.

  • Assisting in presentation preparation including procuring samples, pricing, and other necessary information - updating budget sheets and presentation documents in keynote with accurate information and filing quotes appropriately.

  • Making site visits to inspect installations, meet tradespeople, and advance project needs.

  • Liaising with vendors, tradespeople, and clients.

  • Installing furniture and accessories for completed project.

  • Collaborating with senior staff, including taking direction on priority and necessary tasks.

  • Take notes in meetings and communicate effectively on action items.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in high-end residential design

  • Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture education

  • Ability to multitask effectively

  • Ability to stay organized and on task

  • FF&E focused - good knowledge of vendors, product, materials, shopping and resourcing

  • Experience in project management

  • Willing to travel domestically to job sites, when necessary

  • Access to reliable transportation to visit job sites in the Chicago-land area

  • Understanding of custom furniture design and fabrication process
